Nominations

To nominate your candidate, please follow these guidelines and send to Siouxland Unidad Latina:

  • Nominees must be residents of, are volunteers or employed in the greater Siouxland area.
  • Individuals do not apply themselves, but must be nominated by a group or individual.
  • Not eligible for nominations are: past recipients, members of the Judges Selection Committee, awards judges.

All nominations must be completed and postmarked no later than September 30, 2008.

A $30 application fee must be sent with each nomination.  This includes the cost of the ticket to the event for the nominee and helps defray some promotional costs of these awards.

Nominees must be present at the awards dinner on October 16, 2008 at Western Iowa Tech Community College.  Friends and families are encouraged to accompany the nominee.

Selections by the judges are final and the names of the recipients are confidential until announced on October 16, 2008.

The nomination materials are the property of the Awards Planning Committee and will not be returned.

Nomination Categories
Art & Culture - Recognizes a Latino(a) who has made significant contributions to visual, literary, cultural/performing arts, media, or communications for the Latino community.

Business Leader - Recognizes a Latino(a) business leader who has demonstrated support and commitment in the Latino community.

Community Volunteer - Recognizes a Latino(a) who has made important contributions through volunteer dedication of time and energy improving the quality of life for Latinos.

Education - Recognizes a Latino(a) who has made outstanding contributions to the Latino community in the field of education.

Health & Human Services - Recognizes a Latino/a who has exhibited exceptional leadership or achievement in improving health and human services for Latinos in Siouxland.

Friend of the Latino community. An individual or organization that has demonstrated a commitment to and an involvement in the Latino community.  
Not all categories may be awarded.
