| Siouxland Unidad Latina (SUL) will award academic
scholarships to Latino youth and adults wishing to
pursue a college education in the tri-state area.
Scholarship Overview
SUL’s goal is to develop the skills and awareness
necessary for effective working relationships among
community professionals and businesses in this
exciting time of social and cultural change. SUL
provides scholarship opportunities to emerging
Latino leaders of this region to help achieve this
goal. This scholarship fund is made available
through the generous support of SUL and private
donations.
Scholarship Amount
The scholarship amount is $1,000 and is paid to the
post-secondary institution in the name of the
student.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply the student must be of
Latino/Hispanic heritage pursuing post-secondary
education in the tri-state area and meet one of the
following criteria:
graduating tri-state high school senior during the
2007-2008 academic year,
currently enrolled college student, or
adult wishing to pursue a college education
Additionally, awardees must attend the Cinco De Mayo
Reception on May 2, 2008.
Application Deadline
Application must be postmarked by April 1, 2008.
Application Packet Checklist
In order for application to be considered, the
following documents must be sent as one complete
packet:
- Completed an signed application form
- Completed response to essay questions – the response
should not exceed two pages in length and must be
double spaced.
- Completed two reference forms each in a sealed
envelope – Note: reference forms should not be
completed by a family member or relative; be sure to
be selective when choosing your references.
Award Notification
A selection committee will review applications.
Recipients will be notified of their award by April
18, 2008. Scholarship awardees will be announced at
the Cinco De Mayo Reception on May 2, 2008.
